The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has released the rebased Consumer Price Index (CPI) report for May 2026.
Headline Inflation: Headline inflation rose to 15.93% YoY in May 2026 from 15.69% in April 2026. However, it remained 10.13 percentage points lower than the 26.06% recorded in May 2025.

Food Inflation: Declined to 16.96% YoY, down 7.59 percentage points from 24.55% in May 2025. Month-on-month, it eased to 2.98% from 3.63% in April 2026, representing a 0.65 percentage point decline.
Core Inflation: Fell to 16.82% YoY from 24.92% YoY in May 2025, down 8.10 percentage points. Month-on-month, it rose to 1.94% from 1.03%, an increase of 0.91 percentage points.
